This advert is for 2 positions, one located in Te Anau for 12 months duration and another located in Invercargill for 24 months duration. Please make clear on your application which position you are applying for.

DOC needs your help to manage our more than 72,000 recreation, historic and infrastructure assets with a replacement value of over a billion dollars, so that all New Zealanders can enjoy them for years to come.

We have everything from huts and other buildings, signage and interpretation, tracks and walkways, bridges and structures, to campgrounds and toilets.

As a Works Officer, your asset management experience will help when:

  • providing project management services for DOC's assets, including engaging and managing consultants, obtaining consents and tendering, managing construction contracts, and governance reporting
  • providing project and construction contract advice and support to DOC's staff
  • developing business cases for projects and championing use of the Department's project management and procurement processes.

We are looking for someone with experience and/or qualifications in construction, project and contract management. A sound working knowledge of asset management processes and practices as well as practical experience engaging with the construction industry is a must.  Experience with capital and operational budget management in the Government sector, and a passion for Conservation work would also be ideal.

If you have experience in managing construction projects, have a good level of fitness and an active interest in outdoor recreation, then this may well be the role for you!

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.

Please apply online via the DOC Careers Centre.  Applications must include a cover letter, CV and evidence of the required capabilities as per the role description.

For more information, please contact Caroline Rain, crain@doc.govt.nz or phone 0277380774.

Applications close at 5pm on Monday, 16 December 2019.

DOC is committed to a diverse workforce that represents the communities we serve, and to creating an inclusive workplace culture.
