This is a fixed-term role from October 2018 – March 2019, working 0.4FTE


Do you have an active interest in outdoor pursuits and conservation? Are you well organised with great customer service skills? If yes, then this is the job for you!


This role is unique and has a strong visitor services focus. You will be based in Whakatipu-wai-Maori / Queenstown Visitor Centre. Your role will be to ensure visitors receive an excellent customer service experience by providing them with all the information they need to undertake experiences that will last a lifetime. 


We are looking for one full-time and one part-time team member; who set the bar high in their professionalism, who are not afraid of hard work and are able to show initiative and solve problems as they arise. 

  The skills we are looking for:

  • Genuine enthusiasm when speaking to visitors about what conservation and recreational activities and opportunities available to them in the Southern South Island region.
  • Experience/demonstrated competence in customer service, computer skills, sales, and retail
  • A good understanding of recreation and tourism opportunities available within the Queenstown / Glenorchy area and throughout New Zealand.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to maintain high standards while working under pressure
  • An active interest in outdoor pursuits and conservation.
  • The ability to pronounce Te reo Maori and an understanding of Tikanga Māori
  • A good knowledge of the issues surrounding biosecurity in New Zealand
  • The ability to converse in a second language would be advantageous


Interviews will be held on 22 / 23 August 2018. A skype interview can be arranged.


Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
