We have a vacancy for an experienced Ranger in our Maniapoto District Operations Team. You will be focused on carrying out critical conservation work programmes involving:

  • construction and maintenance of sites and assets
  • management and improvement of facilities and amenities
  • provision of visitor information
  • visitor hazard management systems
  • visitor risk management


Your day to day work will take you across the district, carrying out recreation, historic and biodiversity based work programmes on and off public conservation land, according to work plans.


Your skills and experience in field work and asset management will be of great help to others as your role includes supporting and/or overseeing Rangers, community groups and volunteers doing conservation work in the field.


There are also several biodiversity projects within the District that you may be required to work on. 

Ideally you will have:

  • 3-4 years experience in carpentry and/or facilities management
  • sound knowledge and practical experience of field delivery work
  • current First Aid Certificate
  • experience using Asset Management Information Systems
  • ability to interpret GIS information, produce maps and use data loggers


Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
