We are looking for a person to join our team as a Ranger, focussed on “threats” work (weeds, animal pests etc) at Fox Glacier. 

 

The focus of this position is to undertake weed control work throughout South Westland, but you will be part of a team that also undertakes large scale predator control work, trapping, pest monitoring, conservation law compliance work and other biodiversity work as required.

 

We want someone who is passionate about pest control and its importance to the conservation of New Zealand's natural flora and fauna.  You will need to be highly motivated, well organised with good computer skills, and keen on living in South Westland – with all it has to offer.

 

The successful applicant will have:

  • the ability to work well alone and in a small team 
  • proven back country experience, working/travelling alone off tracks in mountainous and forested terrain
  • very high level of physical fitness
  • keen and quick to learn
  • able to overnight in the field when required
  • a current full Class 1 driver's license

 

Ideally you will also have:

  • a current first aid certificate
  • Light Utility Vehicle (LUV) qualifications and experience
  • Growsafe and Approved Handler Agrichemicals
  • Controlled Substances Licence (Pesticides).
