We're looking for a motivated, passionate and forward-thinking social media star to join us in DOC's Social Media Team on a 2 year fixed-term contract based in Wellington.

 

Our social media team's role is to inspire people to connect with and care for New Zealand's nature. To help us do this, you'll work with our Customer Engagement Unit, rangers, influencers, the public and external stakeholders to help us take our social media engagement, stories and channels to the next level.

 

Reporting to the Senior Social Media Advisor, you will:

  • maintain and develop DOC's core social media communities using exceptional customer service skills and knowledge of social media engagement best practice
  • assist with the implementation of new social approaches
  • create and manage campaigns using your knowledge and ability to create exciting, inspiring and informative digital content
  • optimise and improve DOC's social media approach based on analytics and performance
  • provide social media guidance, advice and support to enable DOC staff to build their social media capabilities

 

To be suitable for this role you will need:

  • 2+ years' experience in a social media, digital, marketing or communications specific role.
  • Proven experience in managing successful social media campaigns (paid and organic).
  • Experience in community/channel management.
  • Content creation skills. You'll know how to turn our scientific and technical work into engaging social media content.
  • An understanding of how New Zealand government works and operates.
  • A passion for conservation, the outdoors and New Zealand's native species.
  • A track record of innovative and creative thinking.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, ability to work with people at many levels, influencing skills and a customer service ethos.
