Permissions National Advisor, (Temporary), Planning, Permissions and Land, Operations, Wellington | Wellington

Posted on 15-Jan-2018
Application close date: 29-Jan-2018

Are you looking for an interesting and challenging role in conservation?

Some activities on public conservation land, or in relation to protected wildlife, marine mammals or marine reserves, require approval from DOC. Our Permissions team, located throughout the country, deals with these applications. The permissions process we use allows DOC to monitor and control the environmental effects of a wide range of activities.

In 2017, DOC implemented substantial changes to the permissions system to enhance our potential to provide robust, legal and sustainable assessments of applications while improving the overall customer experience.

We are seeking a savvy, experienced operational policy advisor to join our team in Wellington who will help us deliver an improvement programme aimed at further streamlining our processes, including developing enhanced operating procedures.

Your ability to plan and manage complex work programmes in a busy environment will be critical as you successfully scope problems and investigate fit-for-purpose solutions that have a customer-focused approach.  Using your exceptional written and oral communication skills, you will be drawn upon to provide expert advice on what can and can't happen on public conservation lands and waters.  You will work with a wide range of people including the public, DOC staff and the Minister of Conservation.

Please apply online.  Applications must include a cover letter, CV and evidence of the required capabilities as per the project description.
