Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, Operations, you will have the opportunity to lead the Operation's Group in the areas of operational planning, biodiversity monitoring, and visitor asset design, inspection and project management. This opportunity is for a 12 month period.

 

The Director Operations Planning has 14 direct reports, and a nationally distributed team of 105 permanent staff.  The direct reports are: Three National Advisors and a PA based in Wellington, a Biodiversity Monitoring Manager based in Palmerston North, an Engineering Manager based in Hokitika, eight Regional Planning Managers distributed throughout the country.

 

To be successful in this role you will have a strong understanding of conservation management, experience in system leadership and design, be a ‘people leader' with senior leadership experience who is skilled at inspiring and motivating teams and who is able to shape a culture which values continuous improvement, team process and working in collaboration with others.  You will ensure there is a positive safety culture and consistent safety practice across all work sites.
