Are you someone who is passionate about the conservation of New Zealand's native biodiversity? Do you enjoy planning, strategy and supporting staff? Do you have skills and experience in pest plant and animal control? If yes, then this could be the job for you.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Ranger, Biodiversity to join our team for an average of 40 hours per week, between November 2017 and February 2018. The reason for a fixed term is to cover the role while the incumbent is on parental leave.

Your role is broad and you will be actively working across a range of different conservation projects including:

  • plant and animal pest control
  • threatened species management
  • dune restoration and island biosecurity monitoring
  • working with staff, community and volunteers
  • fire and marine mammal emergency response

 

The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • knowledge and experience in pest animal and plant control
  • budgeting and contract management experience
  • a strong commitment to safety and wellbeing in the work place
  • experience in planning and guiding an effective work programme
  • a minimum of 3-4 years' experience in biodiversity conservation
