Are you someone who loves the outdoors, has lots of practical skills and enjoys working in a team? If yes then this is the job for you.

As a Ranger, you will be joining the seasonal Pureora Pest Team carrying out critical conservation work programmes across Pureora Forest Park and the Maniapoto District.

The focus of the role will be the delivery of plant and animal pest control operations and monitoring programmes. It may also include ecosystem restoration, threatened species work and visitor asset work. The role will involve some extended hours and work away from home.

We are looking for responsible and reliable team players, who are not afraid of hard work, and who have the following skills:

  • knowledge and/or experience in field delivery work
  • experience and/or qualifications in working with LUV's, 4WD vehicles, motorcycles and other field equipment
  • a current First Aid certificate
  • a good basic knowledge of conservation
  • good communication skills and an ability to get on with people
  • good navigation skills (map/compass & GPS)
  • a high level of fitness
  • a current Approved Handlers Certificate for relevant herbicides and/or pesticides would be an advantage.
