Do you want an interesting and challenging role in conservation? Do you want to help make decisions about the use of New Zealand’s special places, such as national parks and reserves?
We are looking for a talented Permissions Advisor to join our Permissions Team in Dunedin.
In 2013, the Department completed a five year change programme designed to change the way we work. Our new structure has been designed to significantly grow the amount of conservation being done across all of New Zealand, and in partnership with others. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of teams working to this new operating model that will see an increased focus on working within a wider national team. This will provide an integrated professional service to the rest of the organisation.
You will process a wide range of Concession applications associated with the variety of uses of public conservation land, and assess them under the relevant legislation, making recommendations to decision-makers. You will build and maintain relationships with a wide range of people, industries and stakeholders.
You will need well developed analytical and relationship building skills, a strong commitment to quality processes and providing a customer focused service. You will also need to plan and organise your time effectively and demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills. An interest in the resource or environmental management field or similar equivalent experience in assessing environmental effects would also be desirable.
Please apply online. Applications must include a cover letter, CV and evidence of the required capabilities as per the role description.
