He angitūtanga | About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Front country Amenity Ranger within the Central Otago District team.

If you enjoy working in the outdoors, have great initiative, practical skills and love working and interacting with people then this is your opportunity to spend your summer months working in the Central Otago District.  This role is to work in the Makarora area along the Haast Highway from approximately 1 November 2022 until 28 February 2023.

As our next Front Country Amenity Ranger, you will be responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the Front Country sites along the Haast Highway from Isthmus Peak to Pleasant Flat. 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

We would love to hear from you if you have:

• Previous cleaning experience
• Able to use weed eaters/scrub bars.
• Familiar with weed spraying (able to carry 15ltr knapsack)
• Previous experience with maintenance of small petrol-driven engines
• Experience with operating small lawn tractors and mowers
• Able to apply practical maintenance skills for hut and track maintenance
• Experience with volunteers and working with others.
• A current First Aid certificate
• A current Full Driver's Licence
• Knowledge of field delivery work
• High Level of Physical Fitness

The salary range for this position is $47,320 - $59,978 (pro-rata) with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
