This is a truly fascinating and complex role offering you the opportunity to work across a range of statutory bodies.
Leading a small and agile team, you will be responsible for providing the Minister with robust, effective, evidence-based monitoring of entities, providing expertise to DOC and conservation entities to drive best practice governance, and monitoring agreements involving Government funding of conservation entities.
You will play a lead role in providing advice to the Minister on monitoring and maintaining effective boards, setting direction and performance expectations, as well as providing strategic governance advice.
He angitūtanga | About the Role
The Governance and Performance Manager reports to the Department's Director Governance and Government Services and is responsible for leading the Governance and Performance team undertaking the monitoring function, providing owner's interest advice and support to the Minister, as well as supporting the wider department with governance advice.
He kōrero mōu | What we are looking for
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Demonstrated capability in dealing with boards
- Experience leading a successful team
- Proven track record of formal monitoring of entities, ideally Crown entities
- Strong financial, non-financial, and analytical skills
- A high level of written and oral communication skills
- Experience leading processes, and providing evidence-based advice to Ministers on the performance of the Crown organisations
- The ability to quickly build a trusting relationship with internal and external parties, including board Chairs
- To be collaborative, with demonstrated ability to build and leverage effective relationships.
Ideally you will also have:
- Commercial and contract negotiation experience
- Experience providing advice on organisational governance
- Experience monitoring within a Regulatory environment
- Proven ability to analyse complex information
- Relevant tertiary qualification.

The salary range for this position is $106,400 - $152,950 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
