Do you have excellent graphic design and customer service skills? Are you passionate about using your skills to communicate conservation messages effectively?


Do you put the visitor experience at the heart of everything you design?


We are looking for an experienced Graphic Designer to join our Creative Services Team. You'll apply your excellent typographic skills to the creation of communications and publications to support the delivery of DOC's key messages and conservation work to staff and to the public. You will work on a diverse range of material, where the ability to build and maintain relationships with staff is key.


You'll be our satellite designer based in the Christchurch office, supported by the Wellington-based team, so you'll be a self-starter with plenty of initiative and a confident advisor.


Here's what we want for this role:


  • Minimum of 4 years' experience working as a graphic designer
  • Tertiary qualification in graphic design
  • Highly effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • A champion for the Department's brand and identity guidelines
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) and Microsoft Office
  • Strong technical knowledge of print production and file set-up
  • Confidence to raise issues, risks and opportunities


We'd be thrilled if you have:

  • knowledge of cartography or experience working with maps
  • experience creating digital content
  • expertise in visitor information design, particularly interpretation design


This role sits within the Creative Services Team and reports to the Team Lead.
