The Customer Engagement Unit is looking for a creative and innovative Social Media Advisor to join our Social Media Team. We have one of the most established social media teams in government and access to some amazing content.

Maximising DOC's strong and established brand, you will help engage our social media communities and reach new audiences through exciting story-telling and compelling content. Reporting to the Team Lead – Social Media, you will:

  • work in a team focussed on delivering strong external communications and excellent customer service.
  • maintain and develop DOC's core social media communities
  • create and manage social media campaigns and support wider campaigns to achieve business goals
  • help implement and improve DOC's social media approach
  • provide social media guidance, advice and support to enable DOC staff to build their own social media capability
  • be comfortable responding quickly to breaking stories/conversations, operating outside office hours and responding on behalf of DOC

 

You will bring to the team:

  • one/two years of experience in a social media/communications/digital role
  • knowledge of social media best practice and a history of success in hands-on execution of social media initiatives
  • a track record of innovation and creative thinking
  • ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of people
  • problem solving and analytical skills
  • ability to provide support and share expertise
  • ability to work under pressure

 

The successful candidate will be a capable multi-tasker, able to work quickly, manage conflicting priorities and get work done to a high standard.  You will need to work independently and with initiative as the role is based in a different location from your manager and other team members. You will need be able to communicate in a timely and effective way with your team in Wellington.

 

You will be expected to travel to Wellington at times to meet with your team and participate in Customer Engagement Team hui.

 

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
