The Customer Engagement Unit is looking for a creative and innovative Social Media Advisor to join our Social Media Team on a 2 year fixed-term contract based in Wellington to assist with the implementation of DOC's social media strategy.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to put your social media expertise to work, inspiring the public to take positive action for our native wildlife and our unique environment. We have one of the most established social media teams in government and access to some amazing content.

 

Maximising DOC's strong and established brand, you will help engage our social media communities and reach new audiences through exciting story-telling and compelling content. Reporting to the Team Lead – Social Media, you will:

  • Work in a team focussed on delivering strong external communications and excellent customer service.
  • Maintain and develop DOC's core social media communities
  • Create and manage social media campaigns and support wider campaigns to achieve business goals
  • Help implement and improve DOC's social media approach
  • Provide social media guidance, advice and support to enable DOC staff to build their own social media capability
  • Be comfortable responding quickly to breaking stories/conversations, operating outside office hours and responding on behalf of DOC

 

To be suitable for this role you will need:

  • One/two years' experience in a social media, digital, marketing or communications specific role.
  • Knowledge of social media best practice and a history of success in hands-on execution of social media initiatives
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of people
  • Proven experience in managing successful social media campaigns (paid and organic).
  • Experience in social media community/channel management.
  • Content creation skills. You'll know how to turn our scientific and technical work into engaging social media content.
  • A track record of innovation and creative thinking.

 

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
