The Department of Conservation is blessed with more than 72,000 recreation, historic and infrastructure assets with a replacement value of over a billion dollars – everything from huts and other buildings, signage and interpretation, roads, tracks and walkways, bridges and structures, to campgrounds and toilets!  

 

Rākau Rangatira (the big trees experience) is a joint vision for the Department and Te Iwi O Te Roroa to build a world class visitor experience in Waipoua Forest in Northland. It encompasses the key visitor sites of Tane Mahuta (the largest Kauri in NZ), Four Sisters, and Te Matua Ngahere (the second largest Kauri in NZ). This project will design and construct in partnership with Te Roroa the visitor facilities and loop track network connecting the key big kauri tree experiences, and potentially a new visitor facility.

 

We have a vacancy for a Project Coordinator to join this new project in the Operations Group to directly support the Strategic Projects Manager leading delivery of this project. This newly established position is responsible for supporting key project management functions including:

  • Contribute to project planning, resource forecasting and financial schedules
  • Coordinate governance group meetings
  • Maintaining project documentation
  • Support project reporting

 

We are looking for a capable Project Coordinator with relevant past experience. You will need to be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in prioritising, allocating and monitoring resource usage. The ideal candidate will be able to work positively and productively with stakeholders, colleagues and team members across a varied level of seniority. You must have a strong support and service focus and be able to provide the Strategic Projects Manager with high quality insights and visibility of the work across the whole project.

 

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
