This is an exciting role where you have an opportunity to lead one of our fantastic Operations teams and significantly contribute to conservation.


The Operations Manager's focus is to lead the Operations team in the Auckland Mainland District and to ensure the effective integrated delivery of high quality conservation outputs.  The role will also provide specialist knowledge and support on local conservation activities to the Director, Operations.


As well as strong conservation management skills and experience, this role requires a ‘people leader' who is skilled at inspiring, motivating and directing teams and who can shape a culture which values continuous improvement, team process, partnerships with iwi and working with community, business and others.


As such, there is a strong relationship management component to this role so sound appreciation and understanding of value exchange opportunities and strong collaborative relationships internally and externally will be needed.


As DOC has a strong focus on the Health and Safety of its staff and visitors to conservation sites, this role will also be charged with creating a strong ‘safety first' environment, ensuring there is a positive safety culture and consistent safety practice across all work sites.
