We have a full time temporary vacancy for a (CITES) Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species Officer, based in Auckland.  As a CITES Officer, your work will involve:

  • Responding to public queries
  • Issuing CITES permits for the international movement of specimens
  • Inspection  of specimens and consignment lists at New Zealand's borders to ascertain whether they can be imported into the country, or exported out of it
  • Liaison with Ministry of Primary Industry and New Zealand Customs border staff
  • Carrying out the operational aspects of New Zealand's commitments under the CITES Convention


Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
