The Department is blessed with more than 72,000 recreation, historic and infrastructure assets with a replacement value of over a billion dollars– everything from huts and other buildings, signage and interpretation, tracks and walkways, bridges and structures, to campgrounds and toilets!  Don't miss this opportunity to help DOC manage these great assets.

We are looking for an Inspector to join our national operations planning team. Your home base will be Palmerston North but your job will take you all over the conservation estate. You will need a good level of fitness, a great ability to communicate and in return will get to visit and add value to some of New Zealand's most unique and treasured places.  You will need to have experience tramping in New Zealand back country.

As an Inspector, you are responsible for ensuring our Visitor and Historic Assets are up to standard. You'll be inspecting tracks, huts, and structures to provide advice to teams on the ground about asset condition, maintenance requirements, and replacement timeframes.

We are looking for asset inspectors, preferably with experience in the use of electronic data loggers, trade qualification or experience and an active interest in sharing their outdoor recreation experiences. The ideal applicant will be a highly organised, a self starter, with lots of energy, experience traveling through remote places and passion for conservation.

If you love asset management and the great outdoors then this may well be the role for you!

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.

Please apply online.  Applications must include a cover letter, CV and evidence of the required capabilities as per the role description.
