This is a fixed term role for seven (7) months.

We are looking for two enthusiastic Rangers to join our Recreation/Historic Team in the Fiordland National Park over the 2018/2019 summer season.

If you enjoy working in the outdoors, meeting new people and don't mind getting your feet wet then apply now.

The Milford Road is situated within Fiordland National Park.  It has ten self-registration campsites and amenities, day visitor sites, carparks and viewpoints, as well as short walks and access to multiday walks.

You will be assisting with the day to day management of Self-Registration Campsites and amenity areas, ensuring that facilities are kept to a high standard.  Responsibilities include facility fee compliance, disseminating information and providing a high--quality service to Park Visitors.

This is a multi functional role; ensuring one of the highest used sectors of Fiordland National Park is maintained.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • An understanding and appreciation of conservation values in New Zealand and an ability to communicate these to a wide range of people
  • That ‘willing to go the extra mile', ‘can do' attitude
  • The practical know-how to make something out of nothing
  • A good knowledge of Fiordland and the Southland/Otago region
  • A team player attitude who works well under pressure
  • A current First Aid certificate and valid Driver's License.

This position will work on a roster system and applicants must be available to complete the full period of employment from 2 October 2017 to 4 May 2018.

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.

Please apply online.  Applications must include a CV, cover letter outlining why you would like this position and a completed Field Experience Questionnaire.

Please note that a questionnaire is included as part of the application form and needs to be completed to progress your application.  The collection of this additional information is due to the field component of the position and the responsibility for health and safety.

Due to the nature of this position, successful applicants will also be required to complete a Pre-Employment Occupational Health Questionnaire.
