This is a fixed term role for 27 weeks.


Are you someone who loves the outdoors, has lots of practical skills and enjoys working with people?  If yes, then this could be the job for you.


As a Ranger you will be joining our talented operations team working on the West Matukituki track system.  This role involves maintaining huts and tracks in the West Matukituki Valley and hosting visitors.


We are looking for a team player who is not afraid of hard work and who has the following skills and/or experience:

  • a current First Aid certificate
  • good communication skills and an ability to get on with people
  • facilities maintenance
  • working alone
  • a high level of fitness
  • alpine and back country tramping experience


This position is based at Aspiring Hut.  The work roster will be 10 days on and 4 days off.  Work will be shared with a part time hut ranger who works 8 days on, 6 off.  You will be required to work weekends and public holidays.  This role will include early starts and working in the evenings.


Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
