Are you someone who has experience in animal pest control, has a high level of fitness and enjoys working in the backcountry? If yes, then this is the job for you.


We have a ranger vacancy in our Project Janszoon Biodiversity team here in Motueka. The focus of this position is to carry out animal pest control in the Abel Tasman National Park. We need someone who is an effective team player and good communicator, with a passion for conservation of New Zealand's natural flora and fauna.


As a ranger, you will be focussed on stoat trapping, rodent and possum monitoring and control and will have some involvement in different projects including:

• plant pest monitoring and control
• ecosystem restoration
• track infrastructure maintenance


The successful applicant will have:

• the ability to work well in a small team
• proven back country experience, working/travelling alone off tracks in forested terrain
• a knowledge of animal pest control methods
• the ability to stay away from home when required
• an above average level of fitness
• a current Class 1 drivers licence
• a current first aid certificate
