Are you looking for an exciting new role with the opportunity to lead one of the departments key operations teams? Are you interested in the freedom of working in an adaptable environment which you can really make you own?


We are currently seeking a dynamic and energetic leader to drive our busy Hawke's Bay operations team to successfully deliver on key conservation outcomes. This region is currently undergoing a period of transformation so there is real opportunity to create significant changes and positive developments.


About the role

You will be leading a team of 20 staff to ensure the effective integrated delivery of high-quality conservation outputs. Key accountabilities include change management and the implementation of departmental strategies and goals. Every workday can be quite different, so we are looking for someone who is able to work on a number of on-going projects as well as manage every-day operations.


About you

You will need to have an outgoing personality, the maturity and confidence to interact with people from all walks of life, and the ability to switch between tasks effortlessly. There can be times when the workload will be high so you will need to be able to remain calm and focused and work well under pressure. Your skills and management style will ensure that you are able to initially engage with staff and clients in a strong "on the ground" operational delivery manner.


The ideal applicant will have:

  • Proven experience successfully leading team members through a period of significant change
  • Outstanding communication skills including the ability to engage with and create synergy across a diverse range of cultural groups including Iwi and community organisations.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others while fostering a culture which values team work and continuous improvement
  • Strong understanding of health and safety to enable a positive safety culture
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others while fostering a culture which values team work and continuous improvement
