Are you someone who loves the outdoors, has lots of practical skills, is physically fit and enjoys working with people? If you are excited by the chance of being part of the Taupo Trout Fishery, then this may be the job for you!


As a Fishery Ranger, you will be joining our team to help manage the Taupo Trout Fishery with a focus on asset maintenance, advocacy and compliance work. It is an entry level position which can open a career full of options, so we are looking for someone with enthusiasm and drive who is focused on making a difference.


Your role will primarily involve working with:

  • Taupo Fishery management (compliance, track maintenance and boating)
  • Fishery science & research monitoring programmes
  • Tongariro National Trout Centre visitor & site management


In addition, other opportunities are available across the work of the wider department, including fire, biodiversity and visitor assets, so there will be plenty on offer to keep the role interesting and challenging.


Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
