The work is unique as this is the only freshwater sport fishery managed by the Department and holds a strong connection for Ngati Tuwharetoa, local/international tourism and recreational anglers. As such you'll be a part of a hard-working team, focused on the sustainability of this resource.

 

We have a vacancy for an experienced Senior Ranger in our Taupo Sports Fishery team. It's a full time, permanent role based in Turangi.

 

As a Senior Ranger, you would have leadership responsibilities including the ability to plan and authorise technical work programmes relating to:

  • sports fishery management
  • financial planning
  • asset management
  • fishery compliance

 

The successful applicant ideally will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or sound experience of sports fishery management techniques and issues
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills
  • Project management experience
  • Strong field skills including boating and diving qualifications
  • Experience leading and supervising teams
  • Experience in compliance and law enforcement, ideally relating to fisheries
