DOC's Visitor Centres are the gateway to the conservation estate providing information that helps visitors safely explore some amazing recreational opportunities while experiencing a range of historic and natural heritage.

 

As a Visitor Centre Ranger in Egmont National Park you will be part of a team delivering excellence in customer service. Your role will enhance the visitor experience for all domestic and international visitors by:   

  • providing them with up to date information about local recreational opportunities , forecasted weather, track conditions, information about huts and lodges as well as local transport and conservation projects;
  • promoting national and local opportunities in conservation and recreation such as Great Walks or guided tours;
  • promoting and selling conservation merchandise and a range of products within the Visitor Centre;
  • ensuring branding opportunities are maximised and national campaigns like Conservation Week are promoted;
  • Ensuring DOC stories like the Taranaki Mounga Project are told through through visitor interaction and interpretation displays.

 

The ideal applicant will:

  • Have knowledge and experience of conservation and recreational activities in Egmont National Park as well as those in wider Taranaki and nationally;
  • Experience and competence in customer service, computer skills, sales, and retail;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to maintain high standards while working under pressure;
  • An enthusiasm and active interest in outdoor pursuits and conservation;
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand.

 

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
