Are you someone who loves birds, bats and frogs, has lots of practical skills and enjoys working in a team? If yes then this is the job for you.


As a Ranger, Biodiversity (Fauna Monitoring), you will be joining the Maniapoto District team carrying out critical monitoring programmes across Pureora Forest Park and the Maniapoto District.


The focus of the role will be the delivery of fauna monitoring programmes, working with species such as Archey's Frog, Long & Short Tailed Bats and kokako. The role will involve some extended hours, including night work and work away from home.


We are looking for responsible and reliable team players, who are not afraid of hard work, and who have the following skills:

  • Competent written and oral communication skills
  • Reliable and motivated, able to work unsupervised and to supervise others
  • Previous experience of fauna monitoring, fauna handling and report writing
  • High level of physical fitness
  • High level of navigational skills
  • Ability to accurately observe, measure and record field data
  • The ability to get on well with a wide range of people
