We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and skilled person to join our Community Team based in the Hauraki office in Thames.


In the role of Senior Ranger, Community, you will help the Hauraki Team deliver and grow conservation both on and off public conservation land.  You will be part of the Leadership Team reporting to the Operations Manager.


Key focus areas include the implementation of the Hauraki Treaty Settlements and landscape-wide, collaborative efforts in threat management such as Battle for our Birds, Predator-Free 2050, kauri dieback and myrtle rust initiatives.


You will be responsible for:

  • Focussing the work of the community team across priority sites, relationships and projects
  • Identifying opportunities to work with partners and the community to grow and sustain conservation
  • Coordinating input into statutory land administration, Resource Management Act processes, permits and concessions as required


The ideal candidate will have:

  • experience in working with treaty partners and stakeholders
  • a positive attitude and focus on solutions
  • knowledge and experience in planning, organising and managing projects
  • a passion to involve others in conservation
  • excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills
  • strong working relationships across a broad range of public and private sector businesses and groups
  • the ability to think strategically and act operationally
