Are you a great team member team who is passionate about working with communities to grow understanding and increase conservation and community outcomes?


We have a vacancy for a Ranger in our Community team in the Kaitaia Area.  


As a Ranger you have defined responsibilities including the ability to plan and implement community work programmes relating to:


  • Coordination of local input into statutory land administration, RMA, permits and concession processes as required
  • conservation advocacy and education
  • communication channels, including web, media, publications
  • work with others to identify, design and provide opportunities to grow capability of communities, including hapu/iwi, business and education providers to actively engage in conservation work
  • working with others to grow the capability of communities to do conservation work


Your skills and experience in communication and working with the community will be vitally important in your role implementing the community work programme involving iwi, community groups and volunteers doing conservation work.


The successful applicant will have

  • excellent relationship skills and an enthusiastic team member
  • experience working with communities including whanau/hapu
  • excellent communication skills written and oral
  • excellent level of computer literacy  
  • understanding and appreciation of Te Reo and tikanga
  • understanding of legislation, policy and processes that guide conservation work
  • strong health and safety culture


Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment in applying internationally.
