He angitūtanga | About the role
Our Senior National Management Reporting Accountant is a key role within the National Management Accounting team, supporting people who are passionate about conservation and making a difference. DOC has recently upgraded its Financial Management Information System with new budgeting and forecasting tools, so this is an exciting time to come on board.
You will be part of a highly capable, experienced, and collegial team who are focused on providing exceptional technical support and high-quality management accounting services to the DOC leadership team. You will contribute to a wide range of tasks at all management levels that will challenge you to develop and enhance your business and relationship building skills.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Preparation and development of monthly Departmental and Non-Departmental financial reporting to the senior leadership team.
- Responsibility for the development and maintenance of the Department's financial planning levels.
- Responsibility for the budgeting and forecasting requirements for non-Departmental appropriations.
- Supporting the coordination of Treasury baseline updates and annual Budget Estimates processes.
- Facilitate monthly Treasury meetings and outcomes.
- Support the finance team in systems and process improvements.

With your understanding of all accounting principles and practices this role with provide you with an opportunity to make a positive impact and contribute to the financial performance of DOC. This role takes an organisational wide focus which will allow you to provide knowledge, insights and narrative to the Senior Leadership team helping inform and influence the organisations strategic direction. Along with good communication, planning, and organisational skills you will welcome the chance to enhance your career and develop your existing technical skills.
You will also possess:
- Professional accreditation with CIMA, CA, ACA or equivalent
- Extensive knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP)
- Knowledge of the Government financial management framework and applicable legislation.
- A proactive and engaging mindset focused on achieving outcomes acceptable to all parties
- A proven self-starter, able to use initiative to identify and help deliver process improvement opportunities, prioritise deliverables and anticipate the needs of the customer
- Experience with Financial Management Information Systems (preferably SAP), Excel and other Microsoft applications and analysis tools
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills.

The salary range for this position is $88,918 to $120,535 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
