At an exciting time for commitment to the natural environment in Auckland, the Department of Conservation is looking for a Partnerships Development Advisor to join the Auckland based Partnerships team. The Partnerships Group is a national team focussed on working with Treaty partners, communities, business, philanthropy and other groups within DOC to deliver more protection and restoration of our natural heritage.


The aim of the position is to work with partners towards achieving shared goals on a landscape scale across the Auckland region.


The successful applicant will:

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships internally within DOC and externally for the purpose of achieving ‘step-change' growth in conservation.
  • Work closely with Auckland Council to achieve Pest Free Auckland, a programme of community-led conservation.
  • Understand biodiversity priorities in the region and plan and implement partnership work to align with these priorities.


To be successful in this position you will have:

  • Strong organisational and coordination skills and experience.
  • A passion for the natural environment and knowledge about conservation.
  • Excellent relationship skills and a proven ability to operate collaboratively.
  • Experience working with tangata whenua.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understand and be able to support the priorities of the Department.
  • A tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience, in a field related to conservation;


Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
