This is an exciting role within Te Papa Atawhai/Department of Conservation, working across a wonderfully special operating environment. This district is home to some of the most diverse and important ecosystems in the country, including Farewell Spit and Kahurangi National Park, and delivers exceptional visitor experiences including the Heaphy track and those in the northern end of the Abel Tasman National Park. You will work in partnership with Manawhenua ki Mohua and interact with an engaged and supportive community to further conservation outcomes across the district. He angitūtanga | About the role

The Operations Manager is a critical management role within the Department, leading the delivery of high-quality conservation outputs across Mohua/Golden Bay. The role is responsible for managing the District team based at Tākaka, to deliver integrated programmes of work to improve the status of biodiversity, provide visitors with quality recreation experiences, and connect people to conservation.

Relationships are key to the role. You will be part of a strong, collegial Regional Leadership Team in support of the Director Operations, as well as working collaboratively with treaty partners, community groups, local councils and other agencies.

The role requires being able to think and work strategically and constantly maintain the bigger picture as well as being able to focus on the delivery of work programmes to deliver outcomes.
