He angitūtanga | About the role

This is a part time, permanent role (20 hours per week), based in our Whakatane office, and works as part of our Business Support Team assisting our Operations functions and the Conservation Board.  Supporting different teams, this role requires someone who is agile, can quickly adapt and prioritise with several tasks on the go, at any one time.

The position will be focussed on:

  • Communicating with a wide range of people at various levels throughout the organisation
  • Carrying out planned work to a high standard, on time and within budget
  • Managing schedules, bookings, and correspondence
  • Meeting management including agendas, minute taking and room & catering bookings, and organising travel.
  • Word processing, photocopying, and filing documents
  • Actioning board member payments and assisting with induction when new board members are appointed by the Minister of Conservation.

  • A strong business support and administration background with demonstrated experience in administrative processes and services
  • A drive to deliver an exceptional customer experience in every interaction.
  • A team player who uses their initiative to work unsupervised.
  • Are IT savvy and have a thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The ability to turn your hand to a multitude of tasks and easily pick up or learn new systems or processes.


  • An understanding of the work of the Department and how it contributes to New Zealand's future sustainability
