You will need to have;

  • Good operational experience that you can draw on for engaging with people in all parts of our business.
  • Sound understanding of how systems can influence behaviour. You will be a driver of leading the work required to improve the level of strategic and operational risk management within our Department.
  • Excellent engagement and communication skills.
  • A passion for leading improvement in risk management.
  • Experience in Board room settings and giving presentations on good and not so good news.


The ideal applicant will be passionate about "The New Zealand Experience" and how effective systems can support our conservation goals. You will also enjoy working in, mentoring and supporting a close-knit fun crew; being an effective member of the Business Assurance Unit and the wider Corporate Group in transforming how the Department undertakes its work. You will be a lateral thinker who works in an agile way at both an operational and strategic sense and will drive a high quality and "fit for purpose" approach.
