We are looking for 2 GIS Interns based in one of two hub locations - Hamilton or Wellington to be part of the Geospatial Services Team this summer.

 

This position offers you the opportunity to contribute to conservation while gaining experience and growing professionally.  As part of an enthusiastic and committed team, you will be involved in a range of interesting geospatial projects supporting our clients from across the Department.

 

Ideally you will have:

• Completed papers in geographic information systems.
• An understanding of the design and use of geospatial information systems.
• Experience with ESRI products, including analysis, and presenting geospatial information in an engaging way.
• Appreciation and understanding of data maintenance and quality checking, and the ability to follow processes and be systematic.
• Problem solving skills.
• Excellent organisation, communication and relationship skills.
• Ability to work independently, yet advise of issues and ask questions appropriately.
• Abilities to ascertain, understand and interpret the needs of your customers.

 

To be eligible for an internship you must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, AND be a full time student in 2018 at one of the following universities:

• University of Auckland
• Auckland University of Technology
• University of Waikato
• Massey University
• Victoria University of Wellington
• University of Canterbury
• Lincoln University
• University of Otago.

 

Preference will be given to students who have completed at least two years of study.

 

You will ideally need to be available for at least 12 weeks between 19th November 2018 and 15th February 2019.
